Most every morning a special friend and I touch base with one another, often before sunrise. She is getting ready for work, but she makes time to say “Good morning”....... it’s a friendship for the ages.
Today, she sent me a photo of the sunrise from her window. She lives on top of a mountain and has a vast view of both the sunrise and the sunset every day, I live far below her in the valley.
My view of the sunrise is very limited from my window. Not only is it seen in only a teeny part of the sky at my house, it comes much later in the morning.
She simply has the better view.
But, the good news is that when she sends me a photo of her sunrise on the mountain, I have almost ten minutes to drive somewhere to see it here in the valley.
She loves me and knows that the sunrise matters to me. She sends me her sunrise photo in the morning to share her gift with me and to inspire me to seek out my own gifts of the day. She gets me off my couch and into the cold air to search for “her“ sunrise.
And sure enough “her“ sunrise is always there waiting for me. All I have to do is seek it out. And then it becomes “my” sunrise. Her gift becomes mine.
The photo I used for today’s blog was taken last February on Driftwood Beach at Jekyll Island. We got up before sunrise and walked the beach. The view there was vastly different from here. Sunrise is earlier on the beach. And some times, it is much more magnificent than here in the hills of PA.
I reminisce about our time on Driftwood Beach and wonder if this year will allow us to travel there. Even if we don’t get to witness it first hand, we will always have the memories and photos of that one special morning last year.
Just as I will have my friend‘s photo of the sunrise this morning. It’s a matter of perspective, isn’t it.
Sometimes the view is limited from wherever we are.....but it doesn’t have to be.
(Especially when you have good friends to help. ❤️)
"My view of the sunrise is very limited from my window", too! I thank you for bringing me your sunsets and sunrises and all the beauty you share, as I am rarely able to go see them myself. It's a vicarious thrill to go with you. Thank you so very much!
